Subject Description
This subject provides an interdisciplinary foundation in environmental sustainability, exploring key issues in policy, management, and governance. It examines earth system processes that support life, the Anthropocene and its implications, and global and local environmental challenges like biodiversity, water, energy, and food. The course emphasizes the complexity of social-ecological systems and their role in both contributing to and solving sustainability issues. It considers how worldviews, values, and beliefs shape sustainability perspectives and highlights the roles of individuals, governments, businesses, and innovation in building a sustainable future, focusing on governance and management strategies for environmental sustainability.
