FPH is an intensive started early in the first semester. The guest lecturers all give a braod overview of what is part of Public Health, some interesting, some not so much. For starting a first semester in the MPH, it does its job of orienting you to what public health fields are included in the course and the approach to assessments. Could do more in being more cohesive and assessing you better, and may not really provide anything new other than a birds-eye view of public health and some great new friends (that you may never see again :( )
For someone without much experience in the field, however, this was a dense and interesting subject.
If you are a health professional of any kind I would recommend doing the exemption test (even if you haven't specifically studied or worked in public health). I found it pretty much what I'd call assumed knowledge for a health professional rather than anything new & would probably have gotten more out of an extra elective
