Subject Description

This interdisciplinary subject explores the right to health and related rights through a human rights framework in law, policy, and advocacy. It focuses on diverse population groups, such as children, women, Indigenous people, and refugees, and examines global challenges like climate change and conflict. Students contrast human rights with conventional health policies, addressing debates on their legitimacy and utility. The subject traces the evolution of health as a human right and examines state and institutional obligations. Delivered over six weeks, the subject combines online modules, live interactive sessions, and assessments, engaging students in case studies and interdisciplinary perspectives.
